Dr Patricia Mazure
Clinical Advisor
Dr Patricia Mazure graduated from a clinical psychology doctorate at University College London. She has provided clinical services to people of all ages and with a wide range of presenting difficulties, from people with learning disabilities, neuro-developmental disorders, behaviours that challenge, mental health, drugs and alcohol misuse, dementia and people who are experiencing homelessness. Patricia’s clinical interests have included work with children and adults with learning disabilities, diagnostic assessment, emotion dysregulation, attachment disorder and a trauma informed approach.
Patricia has a wealth of experience working with people with learning disabilities for many years as a clinical psychologist and a youth worker, support worker, mentor, and researcher. Patricia has developed multi-disciplinary team and dementia service pathways, led on the Risk of Admission Register (under the MHA), The Transforming Care programme, the Care Programme Approach and has completed many Continuing Healthcare Assessments for the NHS.
With regards to housing, Patricia has experience with placement breakdowns, evictions, hospital discharge, transitions to homelessness and has been involved in raising many provider concerns. She has worked extensively alongside social care teams to identify the type of housing and support needed for people with learning disabilities. She has worked with many people who have been held back in life due to the lack of social housing provisions in the borough (also a barrier to successful psychological outcomes). Through this work, she has gained first-hand insight into how the housing crisis has a long-term impact on an individual’s physical, psychological, emotional and mental health. Patricia has assessed and identified adaptations needed in the home for people with learning disabilities and for those with a diagnosis of dementia. She has also considered the built environment through a psychologically and trauma informed way in order to improve quality of life and mitigate against behaviours that challenge. She has provided consultation to many housing and care providers in order to prevent eviction for complex people, provided training sessions for carers in supported living schemes and implemented psychological interventions for care staff.
